- Some time ago I posted about a problem I had when using the CD1300
- genlock for my CDTV.
-
- Problem: The system clock (NOT the front panel clock) runs 40% slow
- when using the Genlock with the Agnus in NTSC mode.
-
- That is, the CDTV (via the DATE command or the JacoSub on-screen
- clock display) shows that 10 seconds have elapsed while an external
- time base (my wristwatch, etc.) shows that 16 seconds of real time
- have elapsed.
-
- (When the Agnus is in PAL mode, the system clock is exactly accurate.)
-
- There had been some question as to whether the fault lay with my
- genlock, my CDTV or both. (My CDTV had been converted to a UK
- machine and I had to switch it back--there was some doubt as to
- whether I had correctly made the switch.)
-
- Recently, I had the opportunity to try my genlock in a friend's CDTV
- which was a genuine U.S. market version. (Agnus in NTSC mode).
-
- The behavior was exactly the same! 10 seconds system time came out
- to 16 seconds real time! A 40% slowdown!
-
- Furthermore, my friend also had a genuine UK version of the CDTV
- (complete with that funky RF converter module instead of the U.S.
- video module) with the Agnus in PAL mode. When we plugged the
- CD1300 genlock into it, the video was goofy and the machine had
- trouble starting up and synchronizing the video, but once it did,
- the clock was exactly accurate.
-
- At this point, I believe there to be a problem to be with my CD1300
- genlock that causes the CDTV system clock to run slow. My friend
- was interested in buying one of these so he could get normal video
- output from the UK machine (after switching the oscillators, etc.)
- so I'll know if it's just my genlock or if they all behave that
- way.
-
- If anyone has any tips, tricks, hacks or leads on a solution, please
- let me know.
-
- Thanks.
